Miss Millie’s has been serving awesome chicken across the South West and Wales for over 35 years but their roots stretch back even further – to 1965 when former Chairman, Harry Latham, set up KFC in the UK. Harry then served as the Managing Director of KFC UK in the 1970’s before opening stores in 1988 in the South West under the Miss Millie’s brand.

We’ve been working with Miss Millie’s since 2012 and when we first met and got under the (crispy) skin of the business, the brand’s heritage both surprised and excited us. Who knew Miss Millie’s was named after Colonel Sanders’ daughter, Mildred!

We quickly realised that their past was the key to future success and set about telling their story. Our original work delivered a complete brand overhaul, building on their heritage with an illustrated Miss Millie, with a retro look and a fresh approach to their marketing strategy.

We took the campaign to the streets with a brand awareness campaign, targeting customers via poster sites and phone kiosks around their store locations. Alongside this we used local radio, Direct Mail and in-store posters to advertise regular promotions and new product launches.

Over the years we’ve produced all manner of marketing materials, from brand videos and product photography to packaging and point-of-sale. Our work has also been integral to their transition into digital marketing, increasing customer engagement via their website, social channels, and the launch of an app.

In 2020, the company was taken over, ushering in an exciting new era for Miss Millie’s and for us. A new brand was created, based around the line ‘Awesome chicken since 1988’ and the original Miss Millie icon. A new menu was introduced, the stores were all given a revamp and a brand new store was opened in Yate, the first new Miss Millie’s for 40 years!

Miss Millie’s is now expanding further afield and we’re helping them to grow the brand and ensure a whole range of new customers get to hear about their awesome chicken. The first store to open outside of the South West was Billericay in Essex. Our outdoor campaign and door drop ensured everyone knew that Miss Millie’s had arrived while our work in-store reinforced the brand experience.
